Mukuru residents protest after affordable housing units declared sold despite deposit payments

Pastor Margret Njiru, who paid KSh 80,000, is among those demanding to know who purchased the homes they had secured. The Mukuru Community Justice Centre has expressed concerns about the lack of transparency in unit allocation. Displaced Mukuru families, who registered on the Boma Yangu platform and paid the mandatory 5% deposit, are demanding accountability.

Another resident in the video questioned the integrity of the allocation process and noted a contradiction regarding utilities, with some being told units lacked water while others living there confirmed water availability. Residents are calling for refunds and transparency, as the deposits represent significant savings or borrowed funds.

There are unverified allegations that individuals from outside the Mukuru community secured units intended for original residents displaced by the project.
