Libyan Railroads and Hitachi begin preparatory meetings for railway project resumption
Libyan Railroads held its first implementation preparatory meeting in Tripoli with the Japanese company Hitachi. This meeting is in preparation for launching an implementation contract for signaling, telecommunications, and power supply works on the Ras Ajdair鈥揝irte and Al-Heisha鈥揝abha railway projects. This marks the first sign of work resuming on Libya's railway project, following the approval of a contract amendment and an agreement with Hitachi, formerly Italy's Ansaldo, to activate operations and establish a work schedule. In July, Libyan Railroads announced a roadmap to resume contracted work with Hitachi, an agreement reached during ongoing meetings in Egypt. Libyan Railroads is contracted under Contract No. 2/2009 with Hitachi for the supply and installation of the communications and signaling system. Negotiations have also begun regarding an addendum related to the second party's name and address.
