Ghanaian woman recounts harsh working conditions and alleged assault in Iraq
A Ghanaian woman has shared her experience of difficult working and living conditions in Iraq after traveling there for employment through an agency. She stated that the reality of the job was far different from what she expected, with poor working conditions. She alleged that she was assaulted by two men whenever she complained about her situation. Attempts to get help from the Ghanaian agent who secured the job were unsuccessful. She also claimed to have struggled with access to adequate food and comfortable accommodation, sometimes eating only once a day. Her family reportedly paid a significant sum, close to GH垄200 million, to secure her release. She advised prospective travelers to use legitimate channels when seeking employment abroad.
