Egypt's food exports reach record $3.77 billion in first half of 2026

This marks the highest half-year export value in the sector's history, up from $3.414 billion in the same period of 2025. The growth was driven by an increase in exports to 108 countries. The European Union showed the strongest growth among major international market groups.

Exports reached $1.76 billion in the first quarter, a 7.5 percent increase, and accelerated to $2.01 billion in the second quarter, up 13.2 percent. Arab countries remained the primary destination for Egyptian food exports, receiving shipments worth approximately $1.74 billion, an increase of 9.4 percent, representing about 46 percent of total shipments. The European Union ranked second with exports valued at $852 million, up 15.4 percent, accounting for approximately 23 percent of total food exports.

Together, Arab countries and the European Union comprised about 69 percent of the sector's total exports. Saudi Arabia was Egypt's largest individual food export market, with shipments reaching $308 million, an 18 percent increase. The United States ranked second with approximately $255 million in exports, up 9 percent, followed by Jordan with $166 million, a 24 percent increase.
