Egypt leads Africa in foreign direct investment for fourth consecutive year

This places Egypt second among Arab countries. Speaking at the launch of the World Investment Report 2026, Farid noted that global FDI increased by 6%, with developing economies attracting approximately $900 billion, while Africa received about $70 billion. He advocated for international mechanisms to convert developing countries' debt into investments for economic growth.

To enhance its investment climate, Egypt's government approved a unified digital platform for establishing companies, covering 468 economic activities and consolidating licenses from 82 government bodies. This initiative aims to reduce bureaucracy and simplify investment procedures. The Ministry of Investment, in collaboration with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, has also identified 12 priority sectors for investment promotion, including manufacturing, renewable energy, and tourism.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty added that despite global challenges, Egypt's economic reform program and cooperation with international financial institutions have contributed to its economic stability and investor confidence, helping it retain its leading FDI position.
