Egypt's President El-Sisi ratifies law expanding Future of Egypt Authority's mandate
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has ratified Law No. 147 of 2026, which restructures the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development. This legislation broadens the authority's role in national development and strengthens Egypt's economic capacity. The authority is now a national entity with independent legal personality, as well as technical, financial, and administrative autonomy, reporting directly to the president. Its headquarters will be in Cairo, with options for branches in Egypt and abroad. The authority aims to maximize economic strength, support strategic development goals, and balance national security with economic returns, aligning with Egypt's sustainable development plan and urban vision. It will focus on increasing private-sector participation, supporting food, water, and energy security, contributing to economic development, preserving state assets, and promoting social justice. Additionally, it will formulate policies for sustainable development zones, create an attractive investment environment, and establish a unified database. The new framework provides greater financial and administrative flexibility for managing state assets and supporting national development.
