Egyptian Red Crescent dispatches 243rd aid convoy to Gaza with over 2,673 tons of relief supplies

From Egypt to Gaza" convoy, carrying more than 2,673 tons of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. This convoy includes 1,092 tons of food parcels and flour, 95 tons of relief supplies, and 1,485 tons of fuel essential for hospitals and other vital facilities. The Egyptian Red Crescent has maintained a continuous presence at the border since the crisis began, with the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing remaining open and on full alert.

Over one million tons of humanitarian aid have been facilitated by the organization with the support of more than 75,000 volunteers. Israeli forces had closed crossings to Gaza on March 2, 2025, after a ceasefire agreement expired, leading to renewed airstrikes and ground operations. Aid deliveries resumed in May 2025 under a new mechanism, despite objections from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.

A 10-hour humanitarian pause was announced by the Israeli military on July 27, 2025, to facilitate aid delivery. Mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, brokered a comprehensive ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal on October 9, 2025, with Turkish support. The second phase of this agreement began on February 2, 2026, allowing Palestinians to return to Gaza and wounded individuals to seek treatment in Egyptian hospitals after the reopening of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.
