Western Libya experiences third widespread power blackout in two days

The concurrent nature of the blackouts meant some areas did not register the end of one outage before another began. High summer temperatures are contributing to increased demand. There are reports that some citizens, frustrated by continuous power cuts, have attempted to restore power to their districts, leading to grid collapse.

Fires have also been reported in some substations, such as a cable fire at an 11 kV power station in Tripoli's Najma Street area due to increased loads. Authorities are investigating the incidents. The power cuts have severely impacted daily life, with Mitiga Airport reportedly ceasing operations due to a downed border computer system, the Man-Made River losing total power supply, and banks and telecommunications being paralyzed.

Queues are forming at petrol stations as individuals without generators or diesel are unable to obtain fuel.
