Akakus Oil targets 355,000 bpd production by mid-2027
Akakus Oil aims to increase its production to approximately 355,000 barrels per day bpd by mid-2027. This goal was discussed during a 2026 technical and financial meeting between Akakus and the National Oil Corporation NOC at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting reviewed operational and financial performance, and proposed strategic plans. Participants praised Akakus teams for their quick response to a fire on the main 30-inch export pipeline in March, which maintained operational safety and export continuity. The Sharara field's operational performance was highlighted, having reached a peak production of approximately 335,000 bpd in August 2026. Strategic priorities for the coming year were agreed upon, including workshops on development plans for the S field and 2027 development drilling programs. Other priorities include enhancing production sustainability, maintaining operational performance, expediting safety and fire suppression systems, advancing the Sharara field's reservoir development plan and surface equipment upgrades, and completing approved maintenance within budget. The meeting included directors and specialists from NOC and Akakus, along with representatives from foreign partners Repsol, Total, OMV, and Equinor.
