UEFA may lift FIFA boycott threat while maintaining pressure on Gianni Infantino

This decision comes as UEFA continues to exert pressure on Gianni Infantino, the current head of world football. UEFA is scheduled to discuss this matter with leaders from its 55 member federations during the Champions League draw in Monaco. Previously, on July 30, UEFA and its federations had unanimously threatened a boycott after Infantino's proposal to house World Cup revenues in a commercial company open to private investors was revealed.

Although Infantino later abandoned this initiative, European bodies maintained their threat, demanding assurances that such attempts to alter football would not recur. The potential softening of UEFA's stance is largely attributed to the upcoming U-20 Women's World Cup, set to be held in Poland from September 5 to 27. Poland, which consistently planned to host the tournament, would face an untenable situation if a boycott proceeded, and several major European nations are preparing to participate.

A source within the French Football Federation indicated that France's position has always been to lift the boycott threat once Infantino withdrew his project, without requiring additional future guarantees.
