Morocco participates officially for the first time in Gamescom, the world's largest video game fair in Cologne

A Moroccan institutional delegation and 11 video game development studios are showcasing their creations to international publishers and investors in a 102 m2 pavilion. Eight of these studios are beneficiaries of the Video Game Incubator program, a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the French Embassy in Morocco. The remaining three were recognized at the Morocco Gaming Expo 2026 in the “Game Preview Announcement” category.

Nissrine Souissi, director of gaming industry development at the ministry, stated that Morocco's participation aims to accelerate the internationalization of these studios and integrate them into global value chains. This initiative aligns with Morocco's national strategy, launched in 2021, to establish the Kingdom as an African hub for the video game industry by 2032. Gamescom, organized by Koelnmesse and game, the German video game industry association, runs from August 26 to 30, featuring over 1,600 exhibitors and more than 800 games.
