
Algerian economic controls uncover over 17 billion dinars in concealed revenue
Algeria's economic control services reported significant findings from January to July 2026, conducting 1,920,536 interventions and identifying 131,519 infractions nationwide. The Ministry of Commerce released these figures, indicating an intensified effort against illegal commercial practices. Authorities issued 127,150 judicial reports, uncovering 17.175 billion dinars in concealed revenue and seizing 1.087 billion dinars worth of goods. Administrative closure was proposed for 8,171 businesses due to serious regulatory violations. In addition, 35,936 imported cargo shipments were inspected, with 611 rejected for non-compliance, totaling 29,934 tons valued at 23.51 billion dinars. Laboratory analyses were performed on 13,588 samples to verify product quality, and 106,433 instrument checks ensured quantity accuracy. The fight against illegal speculation involved 906,189 interventions, leading to 15 offenses and 15 reports against offenders. This comprehensive approach combines prevention, awareness, and deterrence to combat commercial infractions, protect consumer health, and preserve purchasing power.
