Burkina Faso launches second edition of mandatory patriotic immersion for over 65,000 new baccalaureate holders
Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo launched the second edition of the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion IPO on July 28, 2026, in Koupéla. This initiative targets over 65,000 new baccalaureate holders, aiming to strengthen their patriotism, discipline, and civic engagement, while preparing them for the challenges of Burkina Faso's sovereignty and development. The IPO is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All, adopted by the Council of Ministers on May 2, 2025. The Prime Minister stated that the IPO is a tool for training youth in values of discipline, patriotism, and responsibility, and is essential for the structural refoundation of society. Colonel Daba Naon, President of the National Coordination and Monitoring Committee for the IPO, emphasized the initiative's educational and civic purpose, highlighting innovations for the 2026 session, including enhanced pedagogical content, professionalized trainers, and improved supervision and evaluation. Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso and Head of State, addressed the participants, urging them to become patriotic and disciplined citizens committed to the nation, to deepen their knowledge of Burkina Faso's history, understand geopolitical issues and the national and international security context, and contribute to national sovereignty.
