Banlo Kambou's new book explores the role of mindsets in sub-Saharan African development

Kambou argues that underdevelopment cannot be solely attributed to a lack of resources, infrastructure, or financial means, placing the issue of mindsets at the core of his analysis. He believes African states must shed certain reflexes inherited from the colonial period that perpetuate feelings of inferiority or external dependence. Maxime Bako, who presented the book, highlighted its analysis of transformations within the Alliance of Sahel States AES.

Bako stated that the author views the AES not merely as a military alliance but as a paradigm shift, comparing mindsets to software that needs updating and a "straitjacket that must be discarded." Bako praised the work as a "masterpiece" and encouraged readers to explore its style and insights into Africa's current challenges, particularly in the Sahel region. Kambou clarified that his book does not claim absolute truth, describing it as a document that defends itself and encourages readers to engage with a strong patriotic immersion.

The book covers political, economic, diplomatic, strategic, cultural, educational, academic, military, and security dimensions. Titled "Mentalités et développement en Afrique subsaharienne : Les combats de l’Alliance des États du Sahel," it is available for 8,000 FCFA per copy.
