Kebbi governor's labour background seen as asset for Tinubu's 2027 campaign role
Abdullahi Idris, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, has stated that Governor Nasir Idris' appointment to lead the Directorate of Labour Union Relations in President Bola Tinubu鈥檚 2027 Campaign Council is strategic and well-deserved. According to Idris, the governor's extensive experience in organised labour and his political influence make him well-suited for the role. Governor Idris has a long history in labour leadership, including serving as Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers at local and state levels, National Treasurer and President of NUT, and Deputy National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress. His contributions to the labour movement include reforms that extended teachers' retirement age and years of service. He has also been noted for his ability to mediate labour disputes, with his bridge-building capacity acknowledged by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris. Prominent labour leaders have reportedly sought his counsel on national labour matters. Politically, Governor Idris has strengthened the APC in Kebbi State through mobilisation and reconciliation efforts, and he was the first state governor to endorse President Tinubu for a second term. Abdullahi Idris expressed confidence that Governor Idris's experience will contribute significantly to the success of President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
