Daughter of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan alleges attempts to profit from his cancer battle
Kira Taiwo, daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, has accused some individuals of trying to profit from her father's stage-four cancer diagnosis. During an emotional TikTok live session, Kira stated that people were demanding significant sums, such as N800,000, N5 million, $11,000, and $18,000, for solutions, which the family cannot afford. She emphasized that the family's priority is finding treatment for the actor, whose illness is also affecting her own well-being and that of his brother. Kira mentioned that her uncle, referred to as her "big daddy," was deeply distressed, questioning if Taiye Taiwo Hassan would die. Kira and her sister, Lima Taiwo, had previously appealed for help, clarifying that they were seeking medical assistance, not financial donations. Lima noted that Ogogo's condition had deteriorated, and hospitals had stopped treatment, with the family only recently discovering the severity of his illness. Kira also revealed that Senator Yayi has been assisting with the medical bills. Both daughters urged medical professionals and anyone with cancer treatment expertise to come forward, emphasizing their father's fear of dying and the pain he is experiencing. Ogogo, 66, has had a career spanning over four decades in the Nigerian film industry, featuring in more than 300 films.
