Katsina governor, DSS Director-General advocate for enhanced collaboration against North-West insecurity
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda and the Director-General of the Department of State Services DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi, have urged stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, and communities to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities in Nigeria's North-West region. Speaking at the second North-West Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security in Katsina, Governor Radda, represented by his deputy Malam Faruk Jobe, highlighted that Katsina State has seen improved security through combined kinetic and non-kinetic measures, moving from persistent attacks to greater stability. He emphasized investing in non-kinetic approaches, including free medical care for banditry victims and prioritizing agriculture to strengthen livelihoods. Radda also called for stronger community intelligence and responsible media reporting, warning against sensationalism. Ajayi, represented by Husseini Abubakar, Chairman of the North-West Forum of State Directors of Security and Kano State Director of Security, echoed the call for a united approach, noting the conference provides an opportunity to review the security situation, share experiences, and develop effective strategies.
