Libyan Express to launch new direct flights to Malta, Rome, and Milan on September 6
Libyan Express, a privately owned carrier, announced the launch of three new direct flights to Malta, Rome, and Milan, commencing on September 6. The airline described this as a strategic partnership with Aeroitalia and 4Airways, aiming to provide a more comfortable travel experience and broader options for Libyan travelers. This follows a cooperation agreement signed in May between Libyan Express, Horizon Technic, ALBA Technic, and 4Airways, focused on air transport and aircraft maintenance in accordance with European standards. The agreement includes a joint air route between Libya and Europe, and cooperation in EASA-certified aircraft maintenance services at Misrata Airport. Libyan Express, based at Tripoli's Mitiga International Airport, previously specialized in tailored air services, including support for the oil and gas industry, VIP flights, and air ambulance services. The airline has recently added Boeing B737-400 aircraft to its fleet. These new flights add to services already offered by MedSky, which operates direct charter flights to Athens, Madrid, Malta, Milan, and Rome, and has launched flights to Dusseldorf and announced flights to Paris. While these direct flights offer relief to travelers by avoiding transit through Istanbul and Tunis, the prices of charter flights are noted as expensive.
