Namibia names strong squad for FNB T20 Trinations Series against South Africa and Zimbabwe

Gerhard Erasmus will captain the experienced squad. Erasmus is ranked 14th globally among T20 International all-rounders, having scored over 2,000 runs. Top-order batter Jan Frylinck recently set a national T20 record with 134 runs against Nigeria and hit Namibia's fastest half-century in 13 balls against Zimbabwe.

He also led scoring in the World Cup League 2 ODI tournament with 246 runs. Malan Kruger and Louren Steenkamp, who plays professionally in Ireland, will provide additional batting experience. Michael van Lingen, returning from early retirement, showed strong performances in a 50-over series against Hong Kong and Nigeria.

Explosive all-rounders JJ Smit, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, and Ruben Trumpelmann add depth to the middle order. Smit is ranked 28th in T20 International cricket and recently took six wickets for 27 runs in an ODI against Nepal. Loftie-Eaton previously hit a rapid T20 century and took four wickets in four balls in a T20 International.

Trumpelmann will lead the pace attack. Other fast bowling options include Max Heingo and Jack Brassell. Bernard Scholtz, ranked seventh in ODI bowling, will lead the spin attack and is noted for his economical bowling.

Zane Green provides depth as a batter and wicketkeeper. The squad also includes newcomers Junior Taanyanda, Alex Volschenk, JC Balt, and Waldo Smith.
