Libya launches liver transplant project with Turkish specialists
Libya has initiated a liver transplant project in collaboration with Turkish specialists, announced at the Libyan-Turkish Liver Transplant Forum in Tripoli. The project aims to establish a sustainable national liver transplant program by having Turkish doctors work with Libyan medical staff, supervise operations, and facilitate knowledge exchange. This initiative follows Tripoli Prime Minister's Decision No. 213 of 2026, which focuses on localizing liver and stem cell transplants and diagnosing genetic diseases in children. The forum also outlined plans for training and qualifying Libyan doctors and medical personnel to enhance their capabilities in liver transplantation and enable the country to conduct these operations domestically.
