Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas discusses energy security at ONS 2026 conference
Libya's Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, participated in a panel discussion at the ONS 2026 conference in Stavanger, Norway, from August 24 to 27. The discussion, titled "Will Energy Continue to Shape the Global Balance of Power?", focused on energy security as a vital component of national and global security. Minister Abdel Sadig highlighted Libya's strategic position as a Mediterranean energy partner due to its location, resources, and proximity to European markets. He emphasized the importance of a diversified, efficient, and sustainable energy mix, rather than choosing between oil, gas, and renewable energy. The Minister also stressed leveraging technology, artificial intelligence, and human capital to maximize the value of energy resources. Libya is seeking international partnerships to increase production, develop gas resources, reduce flaring, enhance efficiency, develop renewable energies, and build national capacities to strengthen the energy sector's role in development and economic cooperation.
