Libya's Ministry of Health advances PharmaGate system for pharmaceutical sector regulation
Libya's Ministry of Health is developing its PharmaGate digital system to regulate the pharmaceutical sector. This system registers and organizes data for both local and foreign pharmaceutical companies operating in Libya. PharmaGate functions as an electronic portal, allowing companies to register and submit files remotely, which reduces the need for in-person visits to the Ministry and streamlines the registration process. Physical attendance at the Ministry is only required for the final stages of licensing. The system aims to establish a central database, automate registration, organize technical and legal files, facilitate reviews, support supply procedures, enhance transparency, and expedite transactions. To date, 131 local and 53 foreign pharmaceutical companies have been registered. The Ministry is currently working to add an electronic registration service for pharmaceutical products to further expand digital transformation in the sector, standardize data, and simplify product registration and monitoring.
