
Libya's General Union of Chambers and Spanish Ambassador discuss economic ties and upcoming energy forum in Madrid
Mohamed Raied, head of Libya鈥檚 General Union of Chambers of Commerce, met with the Spanish Ambassador at the Chamber's Tripoli headquarters to discuss strengthening economic and trade relations between Libya and Spain. The meeting addressed the third Libyan-European Oil, Gas, and Energy Forum, scheduled for December 2-3, 2026, in Madrid. Raied requested the Ambassador's support for the forum from Spanish authorities, including the Spanish Trade Office and Repsol, to ensure its success and increase Spanish participation. The Ambassador expressed readiness to assist, highlighting the forum's importance for economic ties. Raied also sought help in coordinating a visit for Libya's Minister of Housing and Utilities to Spain to meet with Spanish officials and companies in construction and infrastructure, aiming to leverage Spanish expertise. The Ambassador welcomed this initiative and offered support. Both parties committed to ongoing communication to enhance Libyan-Spanish economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
