Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu warns NDC government on Ghana's rising unemployment rate

Kpebu highlighted a recent World Bank report indicating that Ghana's unemployment rate stands at 56.4%, describing it as alarming and a reflection of poor governance. Speaking on TV3's The Key Points on August 29, 2026, he noted that while democracy is thriving, such issues could impede future progress. Kpebu emphasized that the high number of unemployed young people is a critical concern, likening it to "gunpowder, it can explode at any moment."

He warned that failure to urgently address the unemployment crisis could lead to youth uprisings, similar to those observed in Kenya due to poor governance. Kpebu urged President John Dramani Mahama to decisively tackle the issue, despite its difficulty.
