Kwale woman representative aspirant recounts Homa Bay attack, attacker's change of heart

The aspirant, still in a wheelchair after being discharged from a Kisumu hospital, described being beaten and left with a head wound. According to her, a young man who was part of the assault initially raised a panga to harm her further but was dissuaded by a woman who knew him. The attacker then apologized, stating he was unemployed and had been paid to target "Wantam" proponents.

He subsequently hid her in a toilet, administered first aid, arranged for an ambulance for her and another victim, and assigned someone to guard her. Odhiambo noted that other women, including Hon. Perpetua, were also specifically targeted during the chaos, with reports of some women being sexually assaulted and one losing her security personnel. The violence at the Linda Mwananchi forum resulted in at least four deaths and 34 injuries.
