Nigeria and Cameroon to clash in Women's Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals
Defending champions Nigeria will face Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women鈥檚 Africa Cup of Nations at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The match, scheduled for Sunday at 6pm local time, will determine a semi-finalist and an automatic qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup in Brazil. This will be the 14th meeting between the two teams at the WAFCON finals, making it the most-played fixture in the competition's history. Nigeria has dominated previous encounters, winning nine in regulation time and two on penalties, while Cameroon has one victory and one draw. Their only previous quarter-final meeting in 2022 saw Nigeria win 1-0. Nigeria has also won all three WAFCON finals against Cameroon. Nigeria has an unbeaten record at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium and is seeking a record 10th appearance at the FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup. Cameroon, who have played all their current tournament matches in Casablanca, are aiming for their third World Cup appearance and their 11th WAFCON semi-final.
