Ernest Brogya Genfi appointed Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness
Ernest Brogya Genfi, the outgoing Deputy Minister for Defence, has been reassigned by President John Dramani Mahama as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness. This change, effective immediately, was announced on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as part of broader government adjustments. Genfi expressed his gratitude to President Mahama on his Facebook page for the new appointment and for the confidence placed in him during his tenure as Deputy Minister for Defence, a position he held since March 2025. He specifically thanked the President for entrusting him with responsibilities at the Defence Ministry following the death of the substantive Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, in August 2025. Genfi pledged his continued loyalty and dedication to President Mahama in his new role, which will focus on national resilience and emergency preparedness. He also extended appreciation to the leadership and personnel of the Defence Ministry and the wider security establishment for their support. During his time as Deputy Minister, Genfi was involved in initiatives such as inaugurating a committee for a home ownership policy for Ghana Armed Forces personnel and engaging in the establishment of the proposed National Defence University. The reassignment is part of a series of changes, including Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo moving to Minister of State for Special Initiatives and Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum becoming Labour, Employment and Job Creation Minister.
