Special Prosecutor Agyebeng links attacks on OSP to discomfort over its investigative powers
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that coordinated attacks against the Office of the Special Prosecutor OSP stem from discomfort among some public officers regarding the institution's independent investigative and prosecutorial powers. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Agyebeng acknowledged that the OSP has made mistakes, but argued that these do not justify calls to dismantle the institution. He emphasized that the OSP's ability to independently determine which corruption cases to pursue has generated resistance. Agyebeng maintained that the OSP is open to legitimate criticism and willing to correct errors, but rejects efforts to undermine its independence or weaken its powers to investigate and prosecute corruption offenses.
