Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin accuses Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie of conspiring in former Chief Justice Torkornoo's removal
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and other Supreme Court judges of conspiring to remove former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo. In an interview, Afenyo-Markin described Justice Baffoe-Bonnie as the "grand conspirator" behind the removal, which he deemed unjustified. He alleged that some Supreme Court members sought to occupy Torkornoo's position and stated that the New Patriotic Party NPP would seek her reinstatement if they return to power. Afenyo-Markin also criticized Justice Gabriel Pwamang, who chaired the committee investigating petitions against Torkornoo, claiming the committee's work was flawed and incomplete, having concluded after addressing only one of three petitions. He suggested Justice Pwamang might have personal ambitions for the Chief Justice role.
