Gabon's REVADAC transforms plastic waste into jobs, increasing recycling from five to 25 tonnes monthly

Over two years, REVADAC has increased its processed plastic from five to 25 tonnes per month and expanded its workforce from two to ten employees. This initiative aligns with the National Plan for Sustainable Development PNCD Trajectory 26-30, which prioritizes the valorization of urban waste, recycling, and the circular economy. Paul Alogui Lavoula, the founder of REVADAC, was initially met two years ago at the Green and Blue Leader initiative, which highlights Gabonese innovation in the green economy.

At that time, his operation was small, processing five tonnes of plastic with two workers. Now, his site in Mindoumbé demonstrates significant growth, processing 25 tonnes monthly with ten employees. Lavoula views plastic waste not as an end-of-life product but as a raw material for new beginnings.

His work provides tangible proof that the PNCD's goals of reduced pollution and green job creation are achievable. The article emphasizes that while Gabon's natural heritage often focuses on elephants and forests, there is another valuable heritage built through the transformation of waste, creating jobs and economic value away from traditional sectors.
