BEAC launches Systac 2 to modernize CEMAC financial exchanges
The Bank of Central African States BEAC announced on August 12 the launch of Systac 2, a new regional tele-compensation platform for the Central African Economic and Monetary Community CEMAC. Operational since August 3, this infrastructure processes retail payments, including transfers, direct debits, checks, and bank cards, between financial institutions in the sub-region. Systac 2 replaces the first version of Systac, which has been in use since 2007, and aims to support the increasing economic exchanges within the zone. The BEAC states that this upgrade moves towards payment systems that are more efficient, secure, and compliant with international standards. Designed with a centralized, secure, and fully online architecture, Systac 2 is intended to make payment operations faster, more reliable, and better adapted to current financial sector requirements. The platform adheres to the ISO 20022 international standard, which improves the flow and structuring of financial data. This evolution is expected to enhance processing efficiency, increase transaction security, and prepare for the gradual introduction of new services for businesses, administrations, and individuals.
