Al-Azhar condemns Israeli settlement expansion in West Bank's E1 area
Al-Azhar has strongly condemned Israel's decision to open tenders for the construction of approximately 1,200 settlement units in the E1 area, east of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank. Al-Azhar stated that this plan is a blatant act of land theft against the Palestinian people and an aggression aimed at isolating Jerusalem, separating it from its geographical surroundings, and fragmenting the West Bank. They assert that this expansion seeks to eliminate the Palestinian people's right to establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital. Al-Azhar stressed that this settlement expansion by the extremist occupation government is a systematic aggression and a violation of international resolutions, attributing its occurrence to international inaction and silence. Al-Azhar called upon the international community and UN institutions to take deterrent measures to curb this expansion and hold the occupation accountable. They also renewed their call to all free countries and people of conscience to support the Palestinian people and their rights.
