
UK and Egypt sign new agreement on migration and energy cooperation
British Minister of State for the Middle East, Stephen Doughty, announced a new bilateral agreement between the United Kingdom and Egypt focusing on migration cooperation. During an interview with Al Qahera News Channel, Doughty stated that discussions with Egyptian officials covered shared priorities including migration, green growth, energy transition, trade, investment, and regional security challenges. The CairoโLondon agreement aims to enhance coordination and strengthen the overall partnership between the two nations on these issues. Doughty also highlighted ongoing UK participation in solar and wind energy projects in Egypt and plans to expand investment opportunities in the energy sector. Talks also addressed boosting agricultural trade and supporting British company investments in Egypt, which contribute to job creation and prosperity. Cooperation extends to regional challenges such as maritime security, developments in the Gaza Strip, and the humanitarian situation there. The UK Minister of State affirmed the importance of continued coordination across political, economic, security, and humanitarian domains.
