Egypt and seven Muslim nations reject Israel's 'E1' West Bank settlement plan
The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, T眉rkiye, and Saudi Arabia have condemned Israel's settlement policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, specifically rejecting the "E1" settlement plan and related activities east of occupied East Jerusalem. In a joint statement issued on August 21, 2026, they also denounced violations and acts of violence by settlers, supported by Israeli authorities, against Palestinians and their property. The ministers stated that these actions violate international law and UN resolutions, posing a threat to regional and international peace. They warned that the "E1" plan is a dangerous escalation that undermines the geographical contiguity of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly between the West Bank and East Jerusalem, threatening the viability of an independent Palestinian State based on 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. They reaffirmed the two-state solution as the only path to peace and called for accountability, including international measures and sanctions against those responsible for illegal settlement activities. The ministers urged immediate action to halt the "E1" plan, rescind related measures, and cease all settlement activities, calling on the UN Security Council and international actors to uphold their responsibilities and protect the Palestinian people's rights.
