United Nations: 94% of Gaza's population needs shelter
A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres has warned of a severe decline in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The spokesperson highlighted that excessive entry restrictions on equipment and a critical lack of funding have resulted in shelter assistance falling significantly short of required levels. Nearly two-thirds of families in Gaza are currently residing in tents or temporary shelters, which are rapidly deteriorating due to harsh weather conditions. Approximately 94% of the region's 2.1 million residents are in urgent need of shelter and basic household assistance. There is a substantial funding shortfall for emergency response operations, with Gaza's shelter sector requiring $562 million. Less than a quarter of this amount has been secured, severely hindering relief efforts and worsening the plight of displaced individuals across the Strip.
