Egypt secures release of two sailors detained in Iran
Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates has successfully secured the release of two Egyptian sailors. The sailors had been detained aboard the vessel "Reem Al-Bahar" at Iran's Bandar Abbas port since January. Following months of diplomatic effort, their departure from Iran and return home have been arranged. Egypt's mission for the protection of interests in Tehran completed the necessary procedures. High-level contact with Iranian officials was made to secure their release, and the mission in Iran was instructed to ensure their welfare and provide support. The mission visited the sailors on the ship, and the ministry's consular sector met with their families, keeping them updated. Ambassador Haddad Al-Gohary, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, briefed the families on the efforts. The head of Egypt's interests-protection mission in Tehran also met with the sailors before their departure for Cairo.
