Egypt allocates LE 205 billion to education sector for fiscal year 2026/27

This investment includes LE 69.5 billion from public sources and LE 135.8 billion from private and cooperative sources. For pre-university education, LE 20.1 billion is allocated, with LE 13.982 billion for constructing and completing 13,000 classrooms and LE 5.173 billion for developing and upgrading 1,600 schools. The plan also covers land expropriation for 80 schools and settlement of payments for 33 land plots.

Additionally, 21 schools will be constructed, 100 Egyptian-Japanese schools prepared and equipped, and 31 schools for high-achieving students equipped. The government plans to provide 1.2 million tablet devices to first-year secondary students and upgrade 80 administrative buildings. These efforts are expected to reduce student density to 37.1 students per classroom.

For specialized education, LE 547.5 million is allocated for official language and advanced education classrooms, and LE 1.5 billion for equipping Egyptian-Japanese schools, with an expected addition of 21 such schools. LE 1.452 billion is earmarked for advanced schools, and LE 100 million for equipping four new schools for high-achieving students.
