Family demands investigation after 27-year-old asthma patient dies at Tain District Hospital amid alleged oxygen shortage
A 27-year-old mobile money vendor, Elizabeth, an asthmatic patient from Wenchi, Bono Region, died at the Tain District Hospital in Nsawkaw. Her husband, Isaac Opoku, rushed her to the hospital, but she reportedly died due to a lack of medical oxygen. The bereaved family is demanding a full investigation into her death. Local residents are outraged, claiming this is not the first patient death at the hospital due to a lack of essential medical supplies. Community members are urging the Health Minister, the Member of Parliament for Tain, and the Tain District Health Directorate to intervene and equip the facility. However, the management of Tain District Hospital has denied that Elizabeth’s death was caused by an oxygen shortage.
