Nana Yaa Akyaa II, formerly Nana Ama Bonsu, has been enstooled as the Queen Mother of Asanteman by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. As the 15th Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II holds a central position in the Ashanti Kingdom's leadership and traditions. She is the highest-ranking woman in Asanteman, responsible for protecting customs, values, and heritage. Her duties include nominating a successor to the Golden Stool when the Asantehene position is vacant, making her crucial for leadership transitions. Additionally, she leads women across Asanteman, advises the Asantehene, and helps resolve disputes concerning marriages, families, and other customary issues.
