EOCO and QNET facilitate repatriation of 33 Burkinabe nationals after anti-trafficking operation
The Economic and Organised Crime Office EOCO and QNET collaborated to repatriate 33 Burkinabe nationals who were rescued during an anti-trafficking operation in Ghana. These individuals were among 44 foreign nationals rescued on July 21, 2026, in connection with a suspected travel scam syndicate. The operation followed a regional law enforcement workshop organized by EOCO, INTERPOL, and QNET, which trained officers from West and Central Africa on identifying and investigating human trafficking and digital fraud. The rescued foreign nationals included 34 from Burkina Faso, eight from C么te d鈥橧voire, one from Mali, and one from Nigeria. After screening, 33 Burkinabe nationals were repatriated on August 13, 2026, and handed over to INTERPOL Burkina Faso at the Paga Border Post the following day. QNET stated its support is part of its efforts to combat criminal networks misusing its name for fraudulent schemes. Cherif Sarr, Regional General Manager for Central and West Africa at QNET, emphasized the company's commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and strengthening safeguards against brand misuse. EOCO highlighted the importance of cooperation between law enforcement, the private sector, and international partners in such operations. QNET advises the public to be cautious of offers falsely claiming to represent the company and has established a Compliance Office in Accra for inquiries.
