
Libya's Medical Supply Organisation launches pilot for sustainable medical supply platform
The Medical Supply Organisation MSO has launched the pilot phase of its "Sustainable Medical Supply Platform," developed in partnership with NSR International for Information Technology Company. The MSO, responsible for importing Libya's medical needs, states this initiative aims to create an integrated national digital system for managing pharmaceutical and medical supplies. The platform seeks to improve planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and tracking from manufacturer to end-user, ensuring continuous availability of medical items. This reform transitions from emergency responses to proactive planning, inventory management, and risk management, enhancing financial and operational sustainability. The pilot phase will test core components like demand forecasting, procurement monitoring, inventory management, and distribution tracking. Utilizing artificial intelligence, the platform will analyze data, forecast needs, and identify risks, while prioritizing data privacy. It also aims to build a unified national database, enhance integration with health facilities, and facilitate data exchange with entities such as the Customs Authority and the Central Bank of Libya. The MSO emphasizes that this pilot is the first step towards a sustainable national model combining good governance, digital transformation, and efficient spending, with continuous monitoring and evaluation planned before national expansion.
