Mohamed Bahroun describes Zawia drone attacks as 'an act of terrorism
Mohamed Bahroun, also known as Al-Far, a key security figure in the Surman and Zawia clashes, has labeled the recent drone attacks in Zawia as an 'act of terrorism'. Bahroun, along with Mohamed Al-Gassab and Othman Al-Lahab, are identified as the primary security actors in the Greater Surman-Zawia region. The recent attacks on the Zawia Refinery, Water Desalination Plant, and Power Station are believed to stem from a conflict among these figures for territorial control and the refinery. The Zawia refinery, currently under the control of Mohamed Al-Gassab, commander of the Petroleum Facilities Guard, is a critical source of fuel for domestic black-market sales and smuggling. The black-market price of diesel has significantly increased due to power outages. Othman Al-Lahab, head of the 103rd Battalion, is reportedly forming an alliance with Al-Gassab against Bahroun. Bahroun, who leads the First Support Group and is Deputy Head of the Anti-Security Threat Agency, is thought to be escalating clashes to gain control of the refinery.
