Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings outlines strategy to bridge gap between research and commercialization

During her vetting by Parliament's Appointments Committee on August 27, 2026, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the crucial role of collaboration among research institutions, industry players, and the government for commercializing innovations developed by Ghanaian scientists. She noted that the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR already possesses frameworks to support innovation commercialization and facilitate private sector partnerships. If approved, she intends to gain a deeper understanding of existing innovations and accelerate efforts to connect researchers with private sector partners.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings also highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual property to reassure scientists that their work and innovations will be recognized and safeguarded. Her comments address the challenge of moving research and innovations from laboratories into productive enterprises to contribute to Ghana's economic development.
