Youth Employment Agency achieves GH¢110 million surplus in 2025 after previous deficit

This turnaround, detailed in the 2025 State Ownership Report, represents an improvement of approximately GH¢188.03 million. The recovery was primarily driven by a 52.9 percent increase in revenue, while expenditure grew at a slower rate of 18.6 percent. Key revenue contributors included a 27.5 percent rise in Communication Service Tax receipts, reaching GH¢602.01 million in 2025, and a 159.7 percent surge in funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund GETFund to GH¢300 million.

Despite these positive results, the report highlighted risks associated with YEA's reliance on a few major revenue sources and noted a 79.6 percent increase in staff-related costs, with employee compensation rising to GH¢185.48 million in 2025. The Agency's surplus margin improved from a negative 13.13 percent to a positive 12.23 percent. Its short-term financial health also strengthened, with the current ratio improving from 1.94:1 to 20.05:1.

Long-term debt exposure decreased, with the debt-to-asset ratio falling from 0.26:1 to 0.04:1, and net assets more than doubled to GH¢199.21 million.
