Switzerland opens excellence scholarships for Algerian researchers on August 20, 2026
Switzerland is offering excellence scholarships to Algerian researchers for the 2027-2028 academic year, as announced by the Swiss Embassy in Algiers on August 14. These scholarships, awarded by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students, are intended for young researchers with a master's or doctorate degree. The program aims to promote international scientific cooperation with over 180 partner countries, including Algeria, by funding elite researchers. Applications will be open online via the GO ESKAS platform from August 20 to November 30, 2026. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to pursue research internships, doctorates, or post-doctorates at prestigious Swiss universities and higher education institutions. Eligibility requires candidates to have completed their master's studies, and only applications supported by an academic supervisor in Switzerland will be considered for research scholarships. Applications are evaluated based on the candidate's profile and academic excellence, the quality of the research or artistic project, and the potential for future cooperation. Results will be communicated by the end of May for the following academic year. Switzerland is a global leader in innovation, investing over 3% of its GDP in R&D, and offers a strong academic environment, high academic salaries, and a high quality of life, attracting international talent.
