
Zimbabwe reports economic and cultural developments, including budget revision and inflation drop
Zimbabwe has announced several key developments across its economic, sports, and cultural sectors. The Finance Minister declared an emergency budget revision for Q2 2026, while the country's inflation rate dropped to 4.2%, marking its lowest in seven years. The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange All Share Index gained 2.4% due to strong performance in the mining sector, and EcoCash processed a record 40 million transactions in one month. In infrastructure, the Harare City Council approved an $80 million water infrastructure rehabilitation plan, and the SADC Infrastructure Fund approved $2 billion for a regional rail network. The Victoria Falls UNESCO designation was expanded by an additional 200,000 hectares.
