Woman alleges hospital bought her newborn for GH₵30,000, paid GH₵27,000

She claimed that despite the agreement, she was paid GH₵27,000, with the remaining GH₵3,000 allegedly deducted for pregnancy expenses. Speaking on Ahenfie FM on August 3, 2026, the woman stated the alleged offer was made after a difficult labor that resulted in complications. She claimed her baby became stuck during delivery and that hospital staff declined her request for a small cut to assist.

After giving birth, she alleged hospital staff offered her GH₵30,000 for the baby, and she informed her family the baby had died. She further claimed a midwife instructed her to leave the baby behind before her discharge the next day. The woman explained that the child's father and his family did not question her account as they had shown little interest in the pregnancy.

She also alleged that she was threatened, preventing her from speaking up earlier. She stated she is now speaking out because she wants her baby back and aims to expose alleged bad practices by some health facilities.
