Environmental advocate emphasizes girls' education and innovation for Africa's green future
Environmental advocate Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams stated that Africa's sustainable future depends on investing in girls' education, science, and innovation. Speaking at the Environmental Education and Lifelong Learning Conference organized by the Pan African Centre for Climate Policy PACCP, Adams highlighted that Africa's response to climate change and environmental degradation requires education, innovation, and equal opportunities for girls. He emphasized that Africa cannot achieve an inclusive green economy if women are underrepresented in science, engineering, and policymaking. Adams called for practical environmental education, suggesting schools become "living laboratories of sustainability" through activities like tree planting and climate-smart agriculture. He urged governments, schools, businesses, and development partners to invest in STEM education, mentorship, scholarships, and green innovation for girls. Adams encouraged young girls to pursue science and leadership, asserting that their voices, ideas, and dreams are valid. He concluded by calling for immediate action from stakeholders to build Africa's green future through educated people, empowered girls, and courageous innovators.
