
Ministry of Education condemns BOGISS student abuse, orders boarding reinstatement
The Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate reinstatement of a 14-year-old student of Bolgatanga Girlsโ Senior High School BOGISS to boarding status following alleged sexual abuse by two school watchmen. The Ministry also directed the Ghana Education Service GES to investigate the incident, ensure the student receives medical attention and counseling, and report its findings immediately. In a statement dated August 20, 2026, the Ministry, led by Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu, strongly condemned the alleged abuse, emphasizing schools' responsibility to protect students and stating that a minor cannot be held responsible for abuse perpetrated by an adult. The Ministry assured the public that justice would be served and reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and rights of all children within Ghanaโs school system.
