Waly Diouf Bodian dismissed from Dakar Port Authority amid resurfacing 2022 Facebook post

This dismissal follows the reappearance of a 2022 Facebook post by Bodian concerning former President Macky Sall. In the post, Bodian asserted that "from April 2024, citizen Macky Sall will no longer set foot in the Presidential Palace, unless he presents a confirmed invitation from President Ousmane Sonko." Two years later, Macky Sall returned to Senegal, but Ousmane Sonko was not in the Palace.

Bodian's removal is part of a series of replacements in major public enterprises, including Aïda Mbodji, Toussaint Manga, Ngagne Demba Touré, and Alioune Guèye. Bodian, an inspector of Taxes and Domains, was appointed to the Dakar Port Authority on April 24, 2024. He was known for his strong defense of Ousmane Sonko on social media and in public, even proclaiming himself the "Guardian of the Guardian of the Revolution."

His continued tenure at the Port after Ousmane Sonko's departure from the Prime Minister's office had caused some confusion among party activists. Bodian had previously stated that his appointment was within the framework of the party. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's decision to relieve him of his duties ends the tenure of one of Ousmane Sonko's most loyal supporters at the head of the Dakar Port Authority.
